CHAMBERS GLOBAL 2024: A spectacular rise for the Dispute Resolution Practice and even stronger individual recommendations
The results of Chambers Global 2024, one of the world’s most reliable and rigorous legal directories, have been released.
And these are exceptional. For the first time, our Dispute Resolution Practice has been ranked in a select group of the most highly recommended in the ‘Dispute Resolution’ area. This means that it is truly world class in every aspect of its work.
In a summary of the year-long analysis, the Chambers Global researchers wrote:
Kochański & Partners is well known for representing clients in international arbitration cases, including investment and commercial arbitration. Partners of the firm also act as arbitrators. The team is also involved in disputes before the CJEU and the European Commission. The firm houses a commercial disputes team dealing with a variety of matters relating to contracts. The team also handles regulatory litigation cases. The lawyers additionally represent private individuals. The team’s clients originate from many sectors, including banking, manufacturing and transportation.
Our clients, in turn, praised us for our communication skills, openness to new challenges and ability to ask the right questions.
They are very communicative and open to new tasks.
They ask the right questions to get the right answers.
Marek Jeżewski and Markiyan Malskyy with strong individual recommendations
A strong recommendation for the Dispute Resolution Practice is not the end of the good news. Congratulations are also due to Marek Jeżewski and Markiyan Malskyy, who repeated last year’s excellent result with top marks.
Marek Jeżewski is now one of the few Polish practitioners recommended by Chambers Global in Dispute Resolution in the ‘Arbitration’ category.
“Marek Jeżewski focuses on international arbitration, regularly representing companies against national states as well as acting in commercial arbitration cases. Jeżewski also represents clients in cases before the European Commission and the CJEU regarding state aid,” wrote the ranking’s editors.
Marek’s clients value his experience and his professional yet pragmatic approach, which ensures that he not only navigates legal issues perfectly, but is also able to identify, address and resolve the entirety of the business issues involved in their cases.
Marek is very calm and responsive. He also has a deep understanding of the strategic factors at play when litigating or arbitrating in Poland or in cases involving Polish entities.
Markiyan Malskyy received a recommendation in the Dispute Resolution (Foreign Expertise) category for the second year in a row, being one of only two individuals to receive this award.

CHAMBERS GLOBAL 2024: How have we achieved such outstanding results
We are involved in the most challenging cross-border, commercial, civil, media and financial institutions disputes.
Under bilateral investment treaties, we act for foreign businesses in the most complex and challenging investor-state arbitrations. We were one of the advisers in the Polish commodity exchange case, conducted under a treaty between Poland and the US, and we led teams of advisers in a number of cases relating to the Russian aggression against Ukraine.
We were involved in a landmark case on the enforcement of judgments against the Russian Federation, which required an in-depth analysis of customary international law on sovereign immunity and asset tracing. We are the first Polish law firm to handle such cases since the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
We are currently involved in four investor lawsuits against different states, with all requiring a creative approach to jurisdictional and substantive issues.
We are also involved in proceedings concerning the recently adopted Act on the Private Enforcement of Competition Law. We are advising in a dispute against a dominant competitor in the gas market and are assisting a state-owned entity in a multi-million dispute against its parent company.
We also actively and successfully support freedom of expression by defending journalists in disputes over major political and media events, both in Poland and in the wider area of Europe as a whole. Clients often comment that our support makes them feel more comfortable speaking out on issues of the highest public importance.
We are not slowing down. We are reaching higher and further
The Dispute Resolution Practice continues to develop and strengthen its competitive edge. We employ ambitious practitioners and outstanding experts, offering them the opportunity to develop and participate in some of the most complex, challenging, but therefore rewarding and valuable experiences.
