We advised on the largest ever commercial real estate transaction in Poland worth over EUR 1.1 billion
Together with the London office of Pinsent Masons and Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr (South Africa), we advised Redefine Properties Limited (the South Africa-based fund listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange) on the acquisition of a 75 per cent stake in Echo Prime Properties B.V. from Echo Investment S.A.
Historic commercial real estate transaction in Poland
The transaction involved a portfolio of 18 commercial properties comprising office buildings and shopping centres located in 11 cities across Poland, including:
- Wrocław Pasaż Grunwaldzki shopping centre,
- Kielce Echo shopping centre,
- Szczecin Outlet Park and Galaxy shopping centres,
- Kalisz Amber shopping centre,
- Poznań Malta Park,
- Warsaw Park Rozwoju office complex.
The total value of the transaction was in excess of EUR 1.18 billion.
This was the largest ever real estate transaction in Poland at that time and one of the largest transactions of its kind in Central Europe in recent years.
On the Polish side, the transaction was coordinated by Partners Rafal Rapala and Anna Gwiazda.
The UK team of Pinsent Masons was led by Robert Moir and William Oliver.
On the part of Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr, the transaction was managed by Peter Hesseling
