We advised Klima Energy supporting the development of green energy

PLN 70 million was recently raised by SunRoof – a Polish-Swedish start-up, towards the development of decentralised energy and green energy infrastructure in countries including Poland, Germany, Sweden and Norway, with Klima Energy – a Spanish VC fund from the Alantra Group, as the leader of the investment round and our M&A team, led by Pawel Mardas, as legal advisor.

Ultramodern technology in the service of green energy

The SunRoof Group, in which Klima Energy has invested, offers unique photovoltaic solutions in the form of solar roof panels. The photovoltaic-integrated roofing enables decentralised and independent production of green energy, which already powers homes and can be used in transport, e.g. for charging car batteries.

To date, the SunRoof Group has attracted numerous funds and private investors. The new funding raised will help strengthen the company’s position in the Swedish, German and Polish markets and ensure its further international expansion.

Klima Energy is a fund investing in companies and ventures geared towards developing renewable energy sources. Its total capitalisation exceeds EUR 210 million.

K&P is ready for the challenges of tomorrow

Our transaction team’s work involved conducting a due diligence of SunRoof companies, drafting and negotiating transaction documentation, and proceeding with the closing of the transaction.

“ESG and green energy are our strategic focus and development areas. We have long seen them among the leading trends in modern economies, raising awareness in everyday life of the importance of  limited energy sources. Environmental issues related to the use of renewable energy sources play a key role in sustainable development. We are therefore pleased to be able to support our clients in making such investments” – comments Paweł Mardas, Partner.

The value of the held round was PLN 70 million (EUR 15 million), with Klima Energy’s investment forming its largest part. Other participants included Inovo VC, SMOK Ventures, Alfabeat and Level2 Ventures.
