Social Impact EMEA: our vision for development recognised in Europe
In a world facing unprecedented environmental, social, legal and economic challenges, bold, visionary and sustained action is urgently needed to address these problems. Action that, by restoring justice and balance, will help repair the damage and rebuild a sense of community and responsibility.
That is why the Social Impact EMEA Awards aim not just to recognise and celebrate positive examples and outstanding achievements, but above all to inspire and encourage others to follow suit. To create a widespread movement of individuals and organisations who will boldly and consistently change the world for the better. And who will support the creation and strengthening of good law and develop programmes and tools to turn noble ideas into tangible results, according to the Legal Benchmarking Group website.
This is our vision, our struggle and our goal. We are therefore delighted to have been shortlisted for this unique award in two categories: ‘Professional Development Firm of the Year’ for our employee professional development programme, and ‘Mentorship Programme of the Year’ for our proprietary mentoring programme.
People at the heart of change
From the outset, we have believed that being part of the global community is a commitment.
We recognise that global change begins with small, local steps. It starts with how we treat one another, the opportunities we create, and whether we foster an environment in which everyone can flourish.
This is why, regardless of what we do for the world, we are committed to developing our own good practices, projects and initiatives. It is this philosophy that has led us to where we are today. It has led to a nomination that proves investing in people is the best strategy for the future.
Forty internal ESG projects last year alone is no coincidence, but the result of a carefully thought-out and consistently implemented strategy. In fact, we have already significantly exceeded that number by now. This perfectly illustrates where we are heading, emphasises Diana Tavera, Partner and Chair of the ESG Committee.
We are one of those organisations that have the courage to go beyond financial indicators when building their brand and position. By implementing so many different ideas, we are working together to build a firm that we can all be proud of.
Vision alone is not enough. It’s action that counts
Firm of the Year in professional development
What makes a company a place of real growth? The scale of projects implemented, support from a strong brand, participation in international initiatives, and use of cutting-edge technological solutions are just some of the many factors involved. Another equally important factor is a culture based on trust, openness and genuine care.
Last year, we implemented a large number of ESG initiatives, including the introduction of a Diversity and Inclusion Policy, regular meetings with the Managing Partner and the establishment of the Women’s Club, which provides a safe space for discussing ambitions, challenges and dreams. As part of the Kochański & Partners Master Academy, we not only honed our hard legal skills, but also learned how to manage stress, speak in public and take care of our well-being through the ‘Work healthily and wisely’ programme.
We’re not doing this just to tick boxes on a list. We’re doing this because we believe that our strength lies in diversity and in the potential of each and every one of us. Being nominated in the Professional Development Firm of the Year category confirms that we are creating more than just a workplace. We are building an ecosystem in which people want to grow, emphasises Diana Tavera.
Mentorship Programme of the Year
Our own Mentoring Programme is the perfect example of how theory translates into practice.
In many Polish law firms, young lawyers are still kept ‘under a glass dome’. They don’t meet clients, learn about business or have the opportunity to build their own brand.
We do things differently. We open doors, give responsibility and create space and conditions for development. With us, even the most challenging questions are given meaningful answers.
That is why our Mentoring Programme provides an opportunity to gain practical knowledge and project know-how, build genuine relationships, and develop on many levels. This applies not only to mentees, but also to mentors, who emphasise that the programme is an opportunity to take a fresh look and appreciate the fantastic potential of the younger generation. It’s a story where everyone wins.
Therefore, our shortlisting in the Mentorship Programme of the Year category is a reward not for our procedures, but for these interesting individual stories.
Ripple effect: We act globally and think locally
Our development activities are part of a larger whole. We believe that a company that cares for its people will treat the world around it with equal care. This is why we are members of the UN Global Compact and the Women’s Empowerment Principles, we have earned another EcoVadis silver medal, signed the Diversity Charter and are supporting Ukrainian students.
Every one of our initiatives, from waste sorting in the office to defending freedom of speech in Europe, stems from the same source: a sense of responsibility.
While this nomination is certainly an honour, our greatest reward remains the real impact we have on the lives of our people and communities. It is the compass that sets our direction.
Because we don’t just talk about change.
We always act on it.
