Ratings | EcoVadis 2024 – Silver medal for the second year running
We’ve done it. For the second time, we have won an EcoVadis silver medal for sustainability performance. This means that we’ve achieved a difficult and demanding task – not only have we maintained a high level of performance and again been among the best of the thousands of companies and institutions around the world that have undergone this rigorous assessment, but we have also improved on our score from last year.
Winning this award means you must be in the top 15% of organisations with the most mature approach to sustainable business. And we have gone even further. Today, we are in the top 8%, up 5 points from last year. This means that we have taken another significant step towards better ESG management in our organisation.
These very high scores are the result of both a careful review of our policies and the measurable impact of our activities, the projects we have implemented and our real achievements in the areas of sustainable business, climate and environmental protection, and corporate governance and management.
We also know where we need to focus our attention and where we need to improve in order to gain additional points next year.
Consistently on the ESG path
As far as the Polish legal market is concerned, we have become a pioneer in the field of ESG, setting gold standards.
Indeed, we are a member of the UN Global Compact, an international initiative that promotes and supports the idea of sustainable business, have signed the Diversity Charter and undergo regular EcoVadis assessments.
Independently, we run our own internal projects, awareness campaigns, training and meetings to discuss environmental issues, anti-corruption, anti-mobbing and anti-discrimination, human rights and gender equality. We also support activities that build an inclusive organisational culture.
To further define our potential and provide systemic support for all sustainable business activities, we established an ESG Committee last year, bringing together experts from a range of disciplines. Their shared mission is to ensure that we effectively manage all ESG-related aspects of our organisation. From business and human resources, to legal, work culture and corporate governance, to the technologies that support us, to environmental protection, energy and resource management.
Awards and recognition from independent Polish and foreign institutions such as The Lawyer and Rzeczpospolita daily confirm that we are making steady progress.
The silver EcoVadis medal, awarded to us for the second time, is also a strong testimony to our performance and efficiency.
Silver EcoVadis for Kochański & Partners
EcoVadis is a leading international organisation that has been conducting independent sustainability assessments of companies for years. To date, more than 130,000 companies from around the world have been assessed by EcoVadis.
EcoVadis provides a holistic assessment of an organisation in terms of corporate and management governance, environmental and climate policy and social issues. The scope of the study covers all aspects of a company’s operations and non-financial management systems, from environmental impact, labour and human rights to ethical issues and sustainable procurement. Each organisation is also assessed on issues relevant to its size, location and sector.
The assessment criteria are based on international sustainability standards such as:
- UN Global Compact
- GRI
- ISO 26000 standard
The EcoVadis analysts verify the data based on the submitted documentation as well as external sources. There is nothing but objectivity here.
Keeping the silver medal certainly motivates us to continue to improve and to be even more committed to the sustainability of the firm we have been building for 25 years. If, as we always stress, we want to leave it to future generations, our business, organisational culture, operations and everyday life must be based on solid and sustainable foundations, such as shared values, care for people and the environment, and fair play, says Piotr Kochański.
So I see today’s award as a team effort. Each and every one of us has contributed to this success through our daily actions and commitment. So we have every right to be proud that our collective efforts in sustainable development have been recognised at such a prestigious level. It is also confirmation that we are delivering on our commitments to create a more sustainable and ethical future, adds our Managing Partner.
