Jacek Kozikowski, PhD, LL.M.

Jacek Kozikowski specializes in energy & infrastructure projects with particular focus on greenfield investments. He provides comprehensive legal support throughout the investment life cycle, including incorporation, obtaining investment incentives within Polish Investment Zones, construction permitting, as well as drafting and negotiations of EPC and service agreements.
Jacek has unique experience in handling offshore energy projects, including representing Polish gas and electricity transmission system operators (TSO) in the development of transnational offshore interconnectors. His offshore experience includes drafting and negotiating cooperation agreements, joint procurement agreements, marine consultancy service agreements, agreements for seabed and environmental surveys and for providing offshore technical support. Jacek has also experience in regulatory aspects of offshore energy projects, including projects funded under the EU’s Connecting Europe Faciilty.
Having a solid academic background in international investment law, Jacek also advises on complex international aspects of the investment process, including in investment disputes, where an investment was undertaken pursuant to Bilateral Investment Treaties (BIT).
Prior to joining K&P, Jacek spent some years in Japan, following selection for the Cross-Border Legal Institution Design scholarship at Nagoya University, Japan, where he completed his PhD and was awarded his doctorate in international investment law (2017).
In 2013, he completed an internship in the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) in the Regional Centre for Asia and the Pacific in South Korea. Following this, Jacek took part in the 11th Willem C. Vis (East) International Commercial Arbitration Moot in Hong Kong, representing Nagoya University (and was ranked second at the national stage in Japan). Jacek also took a two month research stay at the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT) in Rome, Italy where he worked on finishing his doctoral dissertation.

As Asian Desk coordinator, Jacek is an active participant in the Polish-Asian economic exchange, supporting both Asian entrepreneurs in the Polish market and Polish entrepreneurs in their expansion into Asian markets.
Prior to joining Kochański & Partners, Jacek spent several years in Japan on a scholarship under the Cross-Border Legal Institution Design program at Nagoya University, preparing and defending his dissertation on international investment law (2017).
