Climate Justice Firm of the Year. Using law as a tool to fix the world

The world we live in today is facing challenges for which there are no easy answers. Climate crisis, social inequality and the need for energy and economic transformation are all problems that force us to step outside our comfort zones.

They require courage, vision, and above all, consistency.

This is why we don’t question whether businesses should take responsibility for the planet. Nor do we ponder when the time for change will come. Instead, we take action. And we do what needs to be done.

This philosophy of lawyers as architects of a better reality is bearing fruit, as evidenced by our receipt of the title of Law Firm of the Year EMEA in the Climate Justice Firm of the Year category at the Social Impact EMEA Awards 2025.

More than declarations. Climate justice in practice

What does Climate Justice mean to us?

It is a deep understanding that the law has the power to restore balance. It can be used to fight for the environment and to build an economy that manages resources wisely instead of consuming them.

It also involves being aware of our role in the complex ecosystem in which we operate daily.

This unique award reinforces this way of thinking. It recognises our involvement in projects that we believe are of great value in building a better future together:

  • We create laws for the circular economy. As members of the United Legals for Good initiative at UN Global Compact Network Poland, we don’t just observe legislative changes; we actively contribute to them. We are working on legal solutions for the circular economy and extended producer responsibility (EPR). In this way, we are helping Poland and our clients to transition from a ‘use and throw away’ model to one of responsible resource management
  • We are co-architects of Poland’s energy transition. We are advising on the construction of Poland’s first nuclear power plant, a project that requires both a deep understanding of technology, the ability to secure global financing, excellence in managing large infrastructure investments, and at the same time sensitivity and responsibility in the social, political and economic context. We act locally and think globally. This is because we know that big changes start with small steps. Our campaign to save oak trees from the Kampinos Forest, as well as our achievement of another EcoVadis silver medal (which places us among the world’s leading companies), are proof that we can combine strategic thinking with grassroots work

I believe that a lawyer’s mission is not only to become proficient in the law and keep up with business developments. It is also, and perhaps above all, a commitment to working for the common good. This is why, as one of the largest Polish law firms, our role is to build a better reality — wisely, responsibly, and most importantly, by setting an example. Winning the Climate Justice award is a sign that we are heading in the right direction. It is a step towards becoming a mature organisation that understands financial and social profit must go hand in hand, says Piotr Kochański, Managing Partner.

A mature business is a responsible business

Being named Firm of the Year is also recognition of our organisational maturity. We are a conscious market participant who understands that ESG is not just a fashionable addition to the annual report, but the foundation of a modern business strategy. Also, and perhaps most importantly, for a law firm.

Last year, we completed over 40 internal projects in this area. We are aware that to change the world, you must start with yourself.

  • Transparency and Ethics (Governance): we were the first law firm in Poland to set up an internal ESG committee. We regularly submit Communication on Progress reports to the UNGC and Ecovadis, undergo rigorous audits, and implement anti-corruption policies. For our clients, this demonstrates that we are a secure, stable and predictable business partner
  • The Power of Diversity (Social): we believe that the best solutions emerge from the clash of different perspectives. That is why we have created a Women’s Club, implemented mentoring programmes, and promoted inclusivity, as confirmed by our presence on the Diversity IN Check list. For us, parity is not just a theory, but a practice. For example, our management team is perfectly balanced with an equal number of men and women.
  • Environment +: we care for the environment in every possible way. We save drought-threatened trees, help local shelter dogs, organise collections and support children’s homes and associations that help young people transition into adult life. We take our commitments seriously because we know that small successes add up to create big, positive change.

We do it. The ripple effect

Winning the Social Impact EMEA award is a huge achievement for us, but it’s not the end. It marks an important milestone and tells us: “Well done, let’s keep going”.

In a world facing unprecedented challenges, businesses need lawyers who see the bigger picture. Lawyers who understand that investing in people, the planet, and local communities is the best strategy for the future.

We are building an ecosystem in which the law serves people and the environment. This ranges from waste sorting in the office to defending freedom of speech in Europe to creating regulations for sustainable business. All of these initiatives stem from the same source: a sense of responsibility.

Thank you for joining us on this journey. We don’t just talk about change.

We simply DO IT.
