This year’s edition of our atmospheric movie evenings is devoted to cybersecurity and information manipulation. This is now one of the most significant digital threats we must learn to deal with, so we are concluding our series of training sessions on the topic with a selection of important documentaries to help us understand and combat these risks more effectively.
We will begin with the documentary Hackers, Malware and the Darknet – The Fatal Consequences of Cyberattacks.
This film explores the background of cyberattacks, ransomware and darknet activities.
We will see how hackers exploit security vulnerabilities and human error to paralyse the operations of companies, schools and hospitals, and the dramatic financial and social consequences this has for their victims.
Next, we will explore the world of manipulation in the episode How Disinformation Works. We will learn how fake news and deepfakes are created, and how AI influences the manipulation of information. We will also discover ways to protect ourselves against disinformation.
This will be an inspiring screening. As well as equipping us with specific knowledge, there will also be an opportunity to reflect on and discuss how we can protect ourselves and our loved ones from these new threats.
