An effective strategy and success in the Benchmark Litigation 2025 ranking
As members of the European community, what we need today is a sense of agency, power, strength and effectiveness. In order to be heard, we must speak with one voice. Boldly and decisively.
‘United in diversity’ is Europe’s motto, and, on a micro scale, it is also the best description of our litigation strategy.
In an increasingly tense world full of geopolitical and economic challenges, success will go to those who can combine multiple perspectives and translate them into one strong, decisive voice. Into concrete arguments and effective reasoning.
It is precisely this approach that has earned us a place in the Benchmark Litigation 2025 ranking as one of Poland’s top litigation firms.
Strength lies in unity (and strategy)
‘Europe must be strong and speak with one voice’ is a phrase that is used in all contexts nowadays, in Brussels, Strasbourg and Warsaw. In order to protect its values, democracy and economic model, the community must act as a single entity.
Why is this important to us? Because we operate according to the same principles in litigation. And since we handle unprecedented cases involving the defence of democracy and freedom of speech, as well as representing Ukraine against the Russian Federation, we are well aware that litigation is more a clash of powerful strategies than an exchange of pleadings.
We understand that, to win for our Clients, we cannot be a collection of individual lawyers. We must be like a united Europe: diverse in our areas of expertise, but speaking with one strong voice.
Benchmark Litigation 2025 recognises our effectiveness
The new edition of Benchmark Litigation Europe 2025 is now available.
This is not just another addition to our list of rankings. It reflects a thorough analysis of the current litigation market, based on hard evidence, including the most difficult casework, peer reviews, and, most importantly, client feedback.
This year’s results confirm that our position as one of the leading European law firms is no coincidence. We have been recognised because we do not shy away from difficult, precedent-setting cases and are able to manage risk in uncertain times.
Litigation by Sectors: our response to a complex world
Our Managing Partner, Piotr Kochański, has been promoting the ‘Litigation by Sectors: Kochański & Partners Perspective’ for years.
What does this mean in practice?
It means that disputes over photovoltaic farms are handled by a team of experts, not just a litigation lawyer. These experts understand how integrated panels work, know how to resolve connection issues, are familiar with administrative procedures, and can solve environmental protection problems effectively.
Similarly, in banking disputes, analysts who understand interest rate mechanisms and can predict their micro- and macroeconomic effects work alongside the litigation team.
We have combined our practices into a single task force. This allows us to:
- Understand the specific nature of each business – from energy and technology to financial markets
- Develop unconventional strategies and arguments – where others hit a wall, we open doors wide
- Act precisely – like a united block that knows what it wants and what it can achieve on the international stage
It’s more than just business. Defending values
The Benchmark Litigation ranking recognises not only business effectiveness, but also impact on communities.
We have proven time and again that the law is a tool for defending fundamental values. These are the same values on which a strong Europe is built:
- Freedom of speech (Anti-SLAPP): We are handling over 350 cases defending the media against strategic lawsuits aimed at silencing public criticism. We have lobbied for EU regulations in this area because we know that silence kills democracy
- Security and justice (Ukraine): When Russian aggression became a reality, we did not stand idly by. We were among the first to seek the enforcement of judgements against the Russian Federation, paving the way in matters of sovereign immunity
- Market stability: We handle landmark cases at the intersection of press law and financial markets law (MAR Regulation), redefining the boundaries of liability and transparency
The scale that makes the difference
This year’s recognition also proves that we can manage large-scale projects. Our day-to-day work includes handling a portfolio of 14,000 CHF mortgage cases, taking an innovative approach to WIBOR-based mortgage disputes, and defending a family business worth over PLN 1 billion against a hostile takeover.
Just as Europe must be self-sufficient and resilient to shocks, we provide a safe legal haven for our clients. Even during the biggest storm.
The Benchmark Litigation 2025 results are the wind in our sails. They demonstrate that the market needs lawyers who are not only craftsmen, but above all strategists.
We would like to thank our clients for their trust. It is thanks to your cases that we are able to set new standards. And we promise one thing: no matter how complicated the world becomes, we will continue to speak on your behalf. Loudly, clearly and effectively.
