Rzeczpospolita: A wave of bankruptcies hitting Polish railways.

Rzeczpospolita has published an article entitled “A wave of bankruptcies hitting Polish railways” by Robert Przybylski. It cites a statement made, among others, by Dr. Marek Jeżewski from Kochański Zieba Rapala & Partners Law Firm during the debate on the implementation of projects in the railway infrastructure sector which was held at the headquarters of our firm on 18 June 2015.

KZRP is one of the largest law firms in Poland according to Rzeczpospolita newspaper.

On 14 May 2015, Rzeczpospolita newspaper published the results of this year’s ranking of law firms.

KZRP was ranked 7th in terms of the total number of lawyers (up from 15th place in 2014). We were also ranked 14th in terms of the number of advocates and legal counsels (up from 16th place), 1st in terms of income and 8th in terms of revenue.

We were also ranked 7th in the table of leading transactions and were recognized in this category for providing advisory services to Siódemka S.A. in its acquisition by DPD from Abris Capital Partners.

Karolina Marciniszyn and Krzysztof Zięba are among this year’s IP Stars.

Karolina Marciniszyn and Krzysztof Zięba have been for the second time in a row selected as IP STARS in the international Managing Intellectual Property Ranking widely recognized by IP practitioners. The results of the ranking were officially announced at the INTA (International Trademark Association) conference held in San Diego, this year attended by both winners.

KZRP wins a case for Marek Bukowski.

On 7 April 2015 the District Prosecutor’s Office Warszawa Śródmieście-Północ decided to discontinue its investigation of a case brought against Marek Bukowski, a famous Polish actor.

Today’s issue of the daily Dziennik Gazeta Prawna published an article entitled: “They earn extra through using company cars” containing comments made by Anna Cichońska. The generally binding provisions of labor law do not provide a basis to demand from an employee the return of revenue obtained in a conducted own business activity with the use of employer property.

A Polish IT sector Oscar for Dr. Ireneusz Matusiak – an Award from the Polish Chamber of Information Technology and Telecommunications.

Yesterday, Dr. Ireneusz Matusiak, legal counselor, and Partner at Kochański Rapala & Partners received an award from the Polish Chamber of Information Technology and Telecommunications (PIIT) “for many years of success in conducting the Arbitration Court PIIT”. A second award was also received by the laureate – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy – Janusz Piechociński.

KZRP at the Legal Apprenticeship and Job Fair.

Kochański Rapala & Partners shall take part in the 5th edition of the Legal Apprenticeship and Job Fair, which is held on 17-18 March 2015 at the premises of the University Library in Warsaw.
The fair is organized by the following: BCSystems, the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw as well as the Students Self-Governing Body of the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Warsaw. The fair is held under the Honorary Patronage of the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Poland, Mr. Cezary Grabarczyk.

Kochański Rapala & Partners wins the case of Jan Rokita against Konrad Kornatowski.

On March 16, 2015 the Regional Court in Warsaw in a case brought by Konrad Kornatowski (the former Police Commander in Chief) against Jan Rokita (a well-known Polish politician, the former member of the Polish Parliament) for payment of PLN 100,000 as compensation, dismissed the action in full and awarded against the Plaintiff to the benefit of the Defendant the amount of PLN 3,617 as reimbursement of costs of the proceedings.

Paweł Borowski in Dziennik Gazeta Prawna “A bookmaker does not have to pay out on a bet”

The daily newspaper Dziennik Gazeta Prawna published an article by Paweł Borowski entitled: “A bookmaker does not have to pay out on a bet”. The requirements of conducting a betting shop result in, however, that a consumer’s actions need to be verified, in particular where the consumer uses an Internet portal in a way which could be deemed contrary to its designations.

The most recent publication of C.H. Beck “Legal considerations of competition on the gas market” contains a chapter by Dr. Michał Będkowski-Kozioł entitled, “Access of third parties to gas installations. Selected issues.” The book concerns issues regarding energy law, stock exchange trading, considerations as to the development of competition on the Polish gas market, and transformation of the supply sector in the gas market.

Dziennik Gazeta Prawna has published statements of Dr. Ireneusz Matusiak in an article titled “Even a tumultuous biography does not constitute work”. The subject does not possess copyright to his own biography. The biography itself, even if it is very tumultuous, does not constitute work. The work will be the manner in which one’s life is presented in a literary form. A person who is interviewed, becomes its object, not a co-author. In practice this means, e.g. that a journalist or publishing house without the consent of the subject may decide to publish contents of the biography abroad.

The GazetaPrawna.pl portal published statements of Mateusz Ostrowski in the article “Radio and television subscription: Do you have to let an inspector into your home”. Experts are almost unanimous in response to the question as to whether to let an inspector into your home. In theory, you should. The problem is that there are no additional sanctions for not doing so.

Przemysław Krzemieniecki in Dziennika Gazeta Prawna “There are no easy profits”.

Dziennik Gazeta Prawna has published an interview with Przemyslaw Krzemieniecki titled “There is no easy profit”. The main motives for the issue of bonds include the issue of shares or bank financing. If, for some reason, obtaining bank financing is not possible, the issue of bonds can sometimes be, from the perspective of the issuer, a cheaper method to raising capital than the issue of shares. This occurs when the issuer’s capitalization is small, and its plans include a significant increase in the scale of operations and profit growth from the obtained resources, and thus an increase of its capitalization.
